I started a new game to get you a turn 10 save game file Jeff, and noticed that not only friendly nations, but defeated nations, are deploying their forces in other countries. I was noticing this once i installed 770 in my 200+ turn game ive been playing too.
Example: Czechoslovokia -all hexes occupied- is deploying forces in Poland and Strasbourg France. Example: UK is deploying matilda II's in Poland on turn 5 of a new game. Example: Poland is deploying units in Strasbourg France
Was this intentional? It certainly makes the game a hell of a lot harder, that's for sure. No previous version of PGX had this bug (feature?).

This change has completely changed the character of PGX.
I'm fighting a game as USSR.
UK-France-Poland Allies vs Germany-Italy axis (and why doesn't italy start allied to the germans by default, I've always wondered this?)
So as per historical reality, on turn 3 i invaded eastern poland with the soviets as the Germans attacked it from the west...Only to find French Char B's and UK Matildas deploying all over poland, from polish cities.
No previous version of PGX allowed allied units to deploy from an allies cities. It totally changes the character of the game. Makes it much, much harder. I'm getting a dose of what it would've been like had the UK and French actually had standing field armies in Poland and actually honored their alliance with the poles!
I'm not complaining per se, just wanted to make sure Jeff knows this is now a feature/bug.

They are not usually deployed around allied cities. I will have to check your save file you sent me. They should not have any production (Czechoslovakia anyway,,,since all their cities are occupied.) Wait...Turn One is an exception. You do not have to deploy in cities....you can put units on any controlled hex.

Normally, in every previous version of PGX, a country could only deploy forces from it's own city hexes- either conquered or home.
In V770, an allied nation can apparently deploy forces from -any- allied city hex.
I kind of like the feature, actually, but if it was a check-able option box instead of default it would probably be better.
The reason i like it is because, as was the historical case, it lets nations continue to fight alongside the allies even after they are defeated.

This phenomenon is still present in v771. So i played a couple turns as the axis to experiment a bit.
I as a player cannot deploy friendly nation troops at the city hexes of allied nations, but the AI can.
For instance, ireland joined the axis. I noticed that germany and netherlands were deploying troops in ireland. So i switched to Axis human player, and was unable to deploy those nations troops in ireland. So i let the ai play a few more turns, and noticed that yep, the AI can place friendly troops in any allied nation it wants.
This started showing up in v770, and as ive said, definitely makes the game much harder.
If youre playing as germany and attack a minor country, all of a sudden youll start having UK, French and Polish units deploying from city hexes in that country.

I will check that again. I started a couple turns with your set-up, but did not notice that then. I also noticed you are running a version where czechoslovakia is not already occupied at the start of the game. Which I missed ... Europe_Konzev scenario ?

I think i'm just playing Europe 1939? I sent you my whole europe 1939 folder with the custom efile, so you have what i have.
I made a save game file where i conquered czech, ended the turn, disbanded all the units, then used the f12 screen to reset to turn 1, i also added the sigfreid and maginot lines in this version as well.
Not sure how to turn it into a scenario, but i have a save game file i can send you if you know how to make it into a scenario proper.
My custom efile is now 90% finished too, i'll happily send all that stuff to you if youd like.

PS: 772 is still allowing the ai to deploy allied nation troops in any allied nations city hexes.
I attacked Spain with Italy (who was already at war with the allies), then allied Italy with the soviet union some turns later. All of a sudden spanish infantry started showing up in poland.
So this phenomenon is still present.
As i said it actually makes the game more challenging and enjoyable, but it definitely changes the nature of the game.
I'll send you copies of my latest 1939 europe/eqp file and save game so you can see this yourself.
