What are the formulas to determine what the Soft Attack, Ground Defence, max fuel, etc. values are for the units in the game ? Here is the thread to discuss it.

I am beginning to build a few equipment tables based on Technological levels of nations. Basic01 - tech level 1 will be restricted to equipment as might have been used in the 19th century. (Muskets, Muzzle loading cannons, Cavalry, etc.) 1800-1850 ? Basic02 - tech level 2 1850-1900 Rifled muzzle loaders, revolvers, early repeating rifles, Iron Clad ships, etc. Basic03 - 1900-1920 Machine guns, aircraft, dreadnoughts, tanks. Basic04 - 1920-1940 Mainly more aircraft / tank developement. etc. I am starting with a basic unit type for each appropriate class. These will pretty much be Generic units. Using R/D will get some stat variations? What do you guys think ?

Using R/D will get some stat variations? What do you guys think ? Basic10 must have teleporting to parallel universes... An extreme example: the first clashes of the Portuguese colonial wars in the 1960s. Some of the people who participated in the first rebellion type actions used improvised fire arms that fall squarely in level 01. The famous "canhangulos"... 4cce.org/4cce-mosquete-in.htmlOthers used "catanas" usually known in the anglo-saxonic regions as "machetes". The military personnel in the colonies was extremely scarce at the time, so, for a time the colonial side was represented by private civilians armed at best with hunting rifles or shotguns and police personnel. By 1974 the guerrilla in Guinea was better equipped than the Portuguese forces. AA missiles, artillery, tanks and jet fighters. The definition of Basic01 may allow going a bit more onto the past. But you seem to be thinking the Napoleonic Wars as the "system zero". Anyway, once there is a time scale it is possible to set up others. A scale for Ancient, another for Medieval, or Fantasy, or Sci-fi. "PGX Trek, to boldly play where no man has played before" R/D should provide just stat bonuses or just tech level advancement? Or should it provide both things? In the positive case should the player have to choose what each investment goes for? Or should the investment be split between the two things? Should there be provision for a nation falling a tech level? In a way the game already does it. A totally occupied nation can only generate partisans.

Losing factories will drop your tech level. They can be destroyed, captured, bombed out, etc. We could take it back earlier than Napoleonic I guess. No cannons just bows, swords. Have to keep them in scale though. World equipment had some examples I think.
